[Nov 20, 2013 ]What slurry proportion is the most suitable to ball mill? How slurry proportion and viscosity affect the efficiency of ball mill? Let’ s see the following analysis:
Specific gravity and viscosity of the slurry are complementary. Generally speaking, The viscosity of the slurry increases with the increase of its proportion. The key factors that affect specific gravity and viscosity are the amount of water added and the type and quantity of dielectric.
If the specific gravity and viscosity of the slurry is small, stones’ buoyancy produced by the slurry becomes small, the materials will be difficult to adhere to the surface of the stones, then the stones will contact each other directly, and the stones will fail to be grinded. The result is the efficiency of ball mill becomes low and the wastage of it becomes big.
While if the specific gravity and viscosity of the slurry is too big, the slurry adhered on the surface of the ball will difficult to be separated, the slurry and stones can not hit each other, and the materials could not be grinded as we expect. What’ s worse, that may cause the direct hit of stone balls or stone ball with the liner, resulting in ball stone broken and lining damage.
So ball mill’ s efficiency is greatly affected by the specific gravity and viscosity of the slurry. Practice has proved that if the specific gravity and viscosity of the slurry in ball mill are in mid- range, ball mill’s efficiency will get the highest. The best specific gravity is alumina ball 1.83 to 1.90, natural pebbles 1.75 to 1.83, and viscosity is at 30 ~ 60 seconds.
